Briefing note for NE LEP Partners & Stakeholders
Subject: ‘North East England in a Global Europe: Ambitions for Growth’ – 22nd February 2012, Marriott Hotel, Gosforth
This briefing note provides the details and background information to the NE LEP ‘North East England in a Global Europe: Ambitions for Growth’ event taking place on the 22nd February 2012.
Event focus:
The North Eastern Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) will be hosting a conference with a focus on inward investment, export-led business growth and developing trade opportunities with other European countries.
Background:
The conference will be the one of the first opportunities for the NE LEP to bring together key stakeholders to examine how opportunities for future business and investment growth can be accessed by closer working relationships with European partners. Local Enterprise Partnerships such as ours are being encouraged to take responsibility for their own strategic development and priorities and not wait for prescription or direction from national government. The event will look to exploit existing strong European working relationships already established through a European Social Fund Employer Engagement programme and align priorities for business growth, increased trade, and subsequently increased job opportunities in the region.
The event has been supported and organised by a committee including NE LEP representatives, UKTI, and the Honorary Consuls for France, Sweden, and Germany (European Consular and Commercial Office), and will seek to engage with broad business representation from across the region.
The event is supported and funded by the European Social Fund.
